Murphy’s Pub (1928 N 45th St.) Murphy’s Pub has been serving up Guinness, Harp, and fine Irish whiskeys for over 35 years, making it the Emerald City’s oldest Irish pub. Those who’ve never had a Black Velvet, a Black and Tan, or the kitchen’s divine corned beef Eggs Benedict owe it to themselves to check out this Seattle institution. Dogs are always welcome, and there’s live Irish music on Mondays.

Sea Monster Lounge (2202 N 45th St.) Delicious craft cocktails—try the Grand Manhattan—and a varied, inexpensive menu make the Sea Monster Lounge a must-hit spot. A recent remodel has opened up the famously cozy space, and made it even easier to enjoy the jazz and funk bands which take the stage almost nightly. Don’t be surprised if you arrive in the afternoon and leave late in the evening.

The Iron Bull (2121 N 45th St) Looking for a place to catch the game with the whole gang? Trust us, the spacious Iron Bull can handle your crowd. It’s one of the few spots in Wallingford with pool tables, and there’s also an assortment of old-school video games. The large back porch makes it a great choice to spend a sunny summer afternoon, plus, there’s always free popcorn, which is borderline addictive.

The Octopus Bar (2109 N 45th St.) There’s a nautical theme at play at the Octopus bar, But the menu skips seafood for a variety of delectable flatbread pizzas, topped with everything from Italian sausage, to chorizo, to chile-lime shredded chicken. While the owners might describe their funky bar as “just plain odd,” after a couple of cocktails and some conversation, everyone feels like a regular here.

Kate’s Pub (309 NE 45th St) Along with Monday Trivia and Wednesday Karaoke, the happy hour at Kate’s Pub is legendary. From 4 to 7P.M., all the food on menu is half price, and regulars rave about the loaded nachos, make-your-own burgers, and heavenly onion rings (make sure to order them with spicy ketchup). Daily specials, like Thursday’s $3 Rolling Rock pitchers, make it an awesome spot to drink on a budget.
