Cannabis inspires many things in many people: Creativity, self-reflection, inspiration. Oh, and the munchies. Did we mention the munchies?
First of all, yes, the munchies are real. Fortunately, there’s an incredible array of Ballard restaurants to help you take care of this little problem, everything ranging from spicy, authentic taqueria food to creative pizzas and lively Puerto Rican. A word to the wise: Choose your destination before sampling our fresh and locally sourced cannabis. Otherwise, you might never be able to decide!
To get you in the mood—as an aperitif, if you will—we recommend grabbing a hunger-inducing strain such as Grape Ape, Cherry Pie, or GSC at your favorite Ballard dispensary! To round out your night, consider stopping by one of Ballard’s many breweries for a cold one.

This popular local chain takes a simple, no-nonsense approach to classic NY-style pizza. The great selection of fresh, thoughtful salads may diminish your guilt, but there’s no reason to feel bad about chowing down on pizza this good. Try the “Big Moses.” As the menu promises: “The chosen pizza. Have some faith, it will be good.”

Obviously, a bunch of stone burners like us weren’t going to pass up the chance to recommend this hip, showy eatery and bar. Yes, it’s a bit splashier than our other picks, but for a special-occasion treat, we think it tops the list of Ballard restaurants. The theme is “pan-Mediterranean,” but the menu feels virtually unlimited, with inventive takes on housemade pasta, savory small plates like fried mozzarella-stuffed green olives, and addictive charred broccoli with a tangy tahini sauce.

Mexican food can feel stale and overdone, but when it’s this fresh and carefully prepared, it never gets old. Originally springing from a popular food cart, the homey brick-and-mortar version doesn’t spring any true surprises — but that’s a good thing. You’ll find the usual suspects here — enchiladas, nachos, tacos, and tortas — served up with an attention to detail and fully developed flavors lacking at lesser taco peddlers.
Make your next visit an event! Stop by American Mary in Ballard to grab some of your favorite cannabis products, before heading out for some good eats.
